Sir Christopher Lee, CBE, CStJ, was an English actor, singer and author. He was born on the 27th of May 1922 and died on the 7th of June 2015, he was 93 years old.In honour of the recent passing of such a great actor, who's career spanned 70 years and well over 100 films, we have added a Christopher Lee filmography timeline to our directory.
Lee is famous for playing villains, especially his early portrayals of Count Dracula and later as Saruman in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films.
Lee was knighted for services to drama and charity in 2009 and received BAFTA and BFI fellowship awards in 2011 and 2013.
Lee was also known for his singing ability, not only did he record various opera and musical pieces he also contributed to several heavy metal albums.
Christopher Lee also had a remarkable military service during World War II, about which he is quoted as saying
"I was attached to the SAS from time to time but we are forbidden – former, present, or future – to discuss any specific operations. Let's just say I was in Special Forces and leave it at that. People can read in to that what they like"
