New: Colour Coded Timelines
Any regular readers out there may have noticed a drop recently in blog posts, don’t fear this was a temporary pause while we concentrated on a few other projects. One of these is a new portal site which should be coming soon, including a new custom film timelines generator. Another cool thing we have been doing is prototyping new potential features for Histropedia. One of these features is Colour Coded Timelines, and although we can’t yet offer you the ability to colour code timelines, we have started creating some colour coded timelines for you to enjoy.

Ford Mustang: Launched 50 Years Ago Today
On this day (April 17th) in 1694 the first generation Ford Mustang was released. The Ford Mustang created a new class of American auto-mobile called The Pony Car. A sports car-like coupe with short rear decks and a long hood, a class to be adopted by competitors such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin and Dodge Challenger.

Today in 1912: The world's largest passenger ship, The Titanic, sets out on her maiden voyage
On the 10th of April 1912 The Titanic set out on her maiden voyage from Portsmouth to New York. On April the 14th, just 4 days into the voyage she struck an iceberg south of Newfoundland, sinking the ship and causing the death of more than 1,500 passengers. At the time of its maiden voyage the Titanic was the world's largest passenger ship, carrying 2,224 passengers and crew. Our timeline for today looks back at the World's passenger ships of the 19th Century, from the RMS Celtic (701 ft / 214 m) in 1901 to the MS Explorer of the Seas (1,020 ft / 311 m) in 2000.

As Support for XP ends we look back at the history of Windows
Today marks the end of support for Microsoft's operating system Windows XP. First released in 2001 Windows XP was one of Microsoft's most popular operating systems. Reaching an estimated market share of over 80% in 2007 (source: netmarketshare.com) As we say goodbye to Windows XP, it seems like an appropriate time to take a look back at the history of MS Windows for the home user market. Major Acquisitions by Facebook
Facebook has been in the news again with another high profile acquisition. Just over a month after acquiring WhatsApp the social media giant has now purchased the leaders in virtual reality Oculus Rift. The list of companies and services Facebook has acquired is staggering, at least 45 in total. Zuckerburg's first acquisition came in 2007 when he purchased Parakey.
